The Ideal Morning Routine

Welcome to the very first blog post for Corporate Chainbreakers. As I was brainstorming ideas and topics for the blog post, I figured I’d start with something everyone can relate to and benefit from.

The Ideal Morning Routine.

As I have studied even more wealthy and successful people, I have discovered that nearly all of them have some sort of morning routine or ritual. It usually consists of a string of habits that get them ready for the rest of day.

Funny enough, I have recently picked up a book titled The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed To Transform Your Life… (Before 8AM) by Hal Elrod.

This book refers to the acronym S.A.V.E.R.S which stands for : Silence, Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, Scribing.

The author claims that the way you spend the first hour of your day sets the tone for the rest of your day and can determine the rate of your success. Each step is essential in reaching peak levels with your physical, emotional, and spiritual energy. I’ll go over what each morning ritual entails and as a bonus will give you my own personal S.A.V.E.R.S.

Silence – This can be meditation, prayer, deep breathing. Whatever you decide, the idea is quiet your mind and begin the day with tranquility and peace.

Affirmations – This is also known as ‘self talk’. Here you repeat aloud to yourself words of encouragement to inspire you, get over your fears, and send positive messages to your subconscious mind. As Muhammad Ali said, “It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen.”

Visualization – This step is also very important in programming your subconscious mind. As you visualize your perfect day, you set a very strong foundation for the rest of your day. You can even go as far as visualizing deeper, going weeks, months, and even years into the future.

Exercise – There is no secret here about why exercise is one of the steps. It gets blood flowing to your brain and you release endorphins, and not to mention its good for your overall health. This puts you in a good mood and a peak state to start off your day.

Reading – Starting your day off with reading is excellent in many ways. Not only does it get your brain working in an optimal state, but it also fills your brain with good information that you can apply to the rest of your day. The key here is to read something positive and uplifting and don’t fill your brain with rubbish.

Scribing – Last but not least, scribing(or journaling) is a terrific way to keep track of your thoughts and progress as you go through this journey called life. Not only that, it is a way to get your thoughts on paper so they come alive!

Keep in mind, the order of these don’t matter as much as doing them. I like to spend the first 2 hours of my day doing these things to get me to a peak state, but there are no specific time intervals either. You can do the whole thing in an hour or 15 mins. You decide!

My Sample Morning Routine

6am – Wake up and drink full glass of lemon water

6-6:20am – Meditate and Visualization

6:20-6:25am – Affirmations

6:25-6:35am – Scribe(or Journal) -> I alternate between writing on 10 things I need to improve on and freestyle thoughts.

6:35-7:00am – Read a chapter in a book or an article

7:00am-8:00am – Exercise. I usually just go for a walk or run around my neighborhood while listening to a podcast or audio book.

Then I hop in for a quick shower, drink some more water, and get right to work.

There are some days where I’m short on time or have an important meeting or presentation to prepare for and I do an expedited version of the morning ritual. However, I’ve noticed the best results when I take my time and get to a peak state.

When you accomplish that much in the first couple of hours in your day, the rest of the day seems to flow effortlessly.

10 day challenge: I want you guys to implement this for 10 days and share your results and experiences in the comments below. Best of luck!
